How to Manage Unit Types & Units

This guide will walk you through creating and managing Unit Types for properties which are used to create Units for your properties.

Prerequisites:

  • Before proceeding with unit creation, ensure that unit types and buildings have been created. Both Unit Type and Building details are mandatory fields on the Unit Creation page. Therefore, it's crucial to have these elements prepared prior to initiating the unit creation process. Creating Unit Types

Step 1: Navigate to Properties

  • Once logged in, navigate to the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen.

  • Click on the "Properties" option.

Step 2: Click on the Property name

  • Select the name of the property you are creating units for.

*Troubleshooting Tip*: If you don't see the property you are looking for you may need to create the property, or check your permissions and speak to your teams administrator to gain access.

3. Access Unit Type Creation tab

  • Click on the "Unit Types" tab.

  • Scroll to the right and click on the button with 3 stacked dots.

  • A dropdown menu will appear, with the options "New Unit Type". Select that to bring up the Create Unit Type page.

Step 4: Enter Unit Type Details

  • Unit Type Name: Enter the name of the unit type.

  • Property: Select the property associated with this unit type.

  • Description (Optional): Provide a description of the unit type if necessary.

  • Square Feet, Bedrooms, Baths, 1/2 Baths, Max Occupancy: Fill in the respective details for the unit type.

  • Market Rent and Required Deposit: Enter the market rent and required deposit for the unit type.

  • Areas: Select the areas that are included in this unit type, such as living room, dining room, etc.

  • Review Information: Double-check that all information entered is accurate.

  • Click Create Unit Type: Once everything is accurate, click on the "Create Unit Type" button.

Step 5: Confirmation

  • You should now see the newly created Unit Type under the Unit Types tab for the selected property.

  • Now that you have created a Unit Type for your property you are ready to create a Unit



Creating and Importing Units

There are 2 methods for creating units for your properties, we will cover both methods for your convenience below.

  • Create New Unit

  • Import Unit

Creating Units

Step 1: Navigate to Properties

  • Once logged in, navigate to the sidebar on the left-hand side of the screen.

  • Click on the "Properties" option.

Step 2: Click on the Property name

  • Select the name of the property you are creating units for.

Step 3: Access Unit Creation

  • Go to Units Tab: Click on the "Units" tab.

  • Open Create Unit Page: Scroll to the right and click on the button with three stacked dots.

  • Select New Unit: From the dropdown menu, choose "New Unit" to access the Create Unit page.

Step 4: Create Unit Page

  • Enter Unit Details:

    • Unit Name: Provide a name for the unit.

    • Property: The property for which this unit is being created.

    • Building: Select the building associated with the unit.

    • Floor: Choose the floor where the unit is located.

    • Unit Type: Select the type of unit from the available options.

    • Square Feet: Enter the square footage of the unit.

    • Market Rent: Specify the market rent for the unit.

    • Unit Status: Set the status of the unit (e.g., Ready).

    • Amenities: Select any amenities associated with the unit.

  • Create Unit: After filling out the required information, click on the "Create Unit" button to create the unit.

Step 5: Confirmation

  • After creating the unit, navigate to the Units tab for the property. You should see the newly created unit listed there


Import Units

Step 1: Navigate to Import Unit Tool

  • Navigate to Units Tab under the property you would like to import units to.

  • Access Import Unit Tool: Scroll to the right and click on the button with three stacked dots.

  • Select Import Unit: From the dropdown menu, choose "Import Unit" to access the Import Unit tool.

Step 3: Import Units Tool

Follow these instructions to use the tool for importing units:

  • Download Template: Download the Unit Import Template.csv provided. The template includes the necessary column headers.

    • Template.csv Column Headers: "Unit,Type,Sq. Feet,Beds,Baths,Half Baths,Market Rent,Building,Floor"

  • Do Not Modify Column Headers: Ensure that you do not change any of the column headers in the template CSV file.

  • Copy and Paste Data: Copy and paste the relevant attributes from your own spreadsheet into the corresponding columns of the template.

  • Save File as .csv: Save the updated file as a .csv format.

  • Upload File: Use the "Upload File" button to select the saved .csv file containing the unit data.

  • Import Units: After uploading the file, click on the "Import Units" button to initiate the import process.

Step 4: Confirmation

  • The number of units imported will be displayed.

  • Verify that the imported units appear correctly in the Units tab for the property.
